You can still download from Amazon Kindle!

When I was 8 years old, I got my first real book as a Christmas present. And by that I mean a book that was not a book for children. It was a western book, and I read it and from that day I was hooked in the world of books.
Through the years since then I have been buying books and reading a lot of genres, even though I never got back to the western books. My favorite genre is horror and my absolute favorite author is Dean Koontz. No one beats him!

First book I read

Right now I’m storing the books I’ve read in boxes in my basement storeroom, while I have my unread books in my apartment. I don’t have a big place so I need to prioritise what to keep in my apartment. And my “special” books I will be keeping in the apartment after they have been read.

Late last year I got the idea that I should switch to buying eBooks instead. That way I can save so much space and maybe get rid of some of the physical books instead.

I wanted to buy a cheap eReader and be able to just move them on to that one. I have still not been able to buy one but I started with buying 2 eBooks, to try it out. Strip them of DRM protection so they would work on the eReader of my choosing whenever it’s time.

But then we were hit by the news from Amazon, they were removing the option of downloading the eBooks you’ve bought. And I honestly panicked. I started to look into other places to buy the books instead, like Kobo, which I’m happy with so far. Works great. But as some books are not there but on Amazon exclusively it really hurt my “collector’s instinct”.

I started to buy a lot of eBooks on Amazon that I really wanted to get my hands on, before the last date.

Amazon Kindle

Now I know better, because YOU CAN STILL DOWNLOAD THE AMAZON KINDLE BOOKS.
Yes, that is right! We do not need to panic about it! It is still possible!
All you need to do is to download the Amazon Kindle software for the computer and you are good to go! And after that you can still use your software of choice to get rid of the DRM protection. It’s as easy as that!

I do recommend not to download the newest version. I have no idea if it has been patched so you can’t download anymore, but I don’t dare to try that. So instead I am recommending version 2.4. It’s what I have and it’s working great.
When it’s installed I would also recommend going into Tools –> Options –> General and make sure that the box for automatic updates is unchecked.

I will link to a YouTube tutorial I made for this:
